Meet Me In The Garden Pt. 3

So far, week 3, the garden is coming along pretty good. My mom, sister and I have been watering it and it did rain once or twice since my last post. People are really getting into what they are gardening by adding flowers, more vegetables and yard ornaments. It is definitely gaining character. This is becoming one of my favorite pastimes. Here's some more photos.

Memorial Day Weekend

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a safe and blessed Memorial Day weekend. I had a good one despite it being one of the hottest weekends so far. It took some getting used to. I've been to four cookouts in three days. Luckily I had an extra day to relax and recuperate. I was only able to catch photos from two out of four cookouts, but not too many. I was too busy eating good food and enjoying myself. I feel this is still enough to share with you guys. Back to work tomorrow. Enjoy!

Fashion Feature: Spanish Flamenco

Deciding to start the spring season off with cute skirts and sun dresses was a great idea. Not only am I much cooler, I'm showing people a softer side of me. I love unique patterns, ruffles, lace and flare. So I decided to wear my favorite green gypsy skirt and my vintage floral bolero jacket. I also wore my Fergelious black open toe pump. Then topped it with silver accessories. All day people were saying I looked like a Spanish Flamenco dancer.

*Sorry for the quality of some of the photos. They were taken with my webcam.*

Rest In Peace Margo Dydek

April 28, 1974 – May 27, 2011

I am a huge fan of the WNBA and I'm so happy that the season is about to start soon. It is so sad that the start of such a season is the sad ending of someone's life. Margo Dydek, who was the tallest active professional female basketball player in the world standing at 7'2", has passed away yesterday of a heart attack at the age of 37. She played for four teams Utah Starzz, L.A. Sparks, Connecticut Sun, and San Antonio Silver Stars. I first noticed her reading a magazine and she struck my attention by palming a basketball over a woman of average height's head while wearing flip flops. I admired her playing style and her the way she worked hard with her teammates. She will definitely be missed. My prayers are going out to her family and friends.

Fashion Feature: Concrete Jungle

I brought this dress from a small dress boutique in Newark, NJ about 4 years ago. I may have only wore it four times total. Now I'm wondering why I haven't worn it more. It is so comfortable and cool in the summer heat. It's sleeveless with thick straps. But I dressed it up with a black vintage bolero jacket. I wore it to work and I turned plenty of heads. The unique pattern drew so much attention and compliments. I just had to share it with you guys. I styles it up with some cool accessories as well. Please excuse my after work tired look.

WHAT'S IN MY BAG..???

I saw a few blog posts here about what's in their bags. At first I thought it was kind of crazy, but when you think about what people carry with them, it shows their personality. Most of my content is green, which is my favorite color. My content is kind of boring but I decided to share anyway.

What does my bag say about me?

Photobucket

My bag is from Charlotte Russe in New Jersey Gardens Mall in Elizabeth, NJ. It zips with a drawstring. The bag can also be converted to a backpack and it has a short strap as well. I love how the strings have tassels on them. I also love the stitched designs on it. My mom brought it for me for my birthday to take we me on my trip to Atlantic City, New Jersey this past April. I've been wearing it ever since. My daily bag.

Meet Me In The Garden Pt. 2

Today was day two for me in the community garden. I even got another plot for my boyfriend and I but we will still help my mom and sister with theirs. It was another good turn-out from all the neighbors. We finally got the soils so we decided to fill the plots with our starter plants. I planted some cabbage, collards, tomatoes, and more. It was such a warm day and full of sunshine. The rain came down all night and held up for my chance to get in the garden. I was loving the feeling of planting the vegetables, now I want to do more. I even wore green. Afterwards the representative Lee gave us some fresh tomato slices with a sweet vinegar dressing.

Below are some photos I want to share.

Here's her story:
"Ruthie's Greetings was established in 2008. I named the company after my late grandmother who was a preschool teacher, and loved to create bulletin boards for her class. She especially loved to draw and cut out the shapes that she needed for her bulletin boards. I wanted to honor her memory, so I have adopted her style for the creation of my handmade greeting cards. Ruthie's Greetings specializes in custom and general handmade greeting cards for all occasions. I work closely with my customers to ensure that their cards fit their recipients. Ruthie's Greetings card are currently being sold online. I am inspired by God, my family, Communities in Schools of NJ, and Newark NJ. My goals are to sell my cards in local gift shops and festivals. I want to make Ruthie's Greetings a household name. I will open my own card boutique one day. I know that this is possible with God by my side :-) It's a blessing to be able to put a smile on someone's face. I am happy that I have the opportunity to do so."
