Michael Jackson's Birthday: NYC

Happy 53rd Birthday Michael!

I had the honor of spending Michael Jackson's birthday with my extending MJ family, the Michael Jackson Fans of New York. I am so happy to have them in my life because they have been nothing but super nice to me. I really feel like I'm in the right place with them.

This is the best MJ drawing I've ever seen. Great job to the artist, Wendy Suarez, and it's wearing my outfit! :-)

When I was upset about the hurricane ruining our MJ weekend, I looked on the bright side and headed over to New York City for his 53rd birthday. We all were sharing so much MJ love and I enjoyed every moment of it. Even though the police shut us down at Times Square, we continued the party to Famous Dave's BBQ. We all gathered and sung "Hold My Hand," which was a beautiful tribute to the King of Pop. We took photos, shared dance moves, and just had a great time celebrating the life of Michael Jackson. I seriously can't wait for our next event.

Meet Me In The Garden Pt. 16

This is going on week 16 already. Time is sure flying by fast. It's so cool how this garden has grown and provided us with great meals free at charge and much more healthier. This was such an amazing way to spend my summer and to track the progress is even more amazing.

Week 16 wasn't an easy week. It encountered heavy rain and wind from Hurricane Irene when it touched basis on the east coast. The some of the stems on the tomato plants snapped or wilted over. People who grew corn, had corn stalks falling over. The plants did benefit from the rain because of the heat prior to the storm drying them out. Plus they were fed plant food earlier that week.

Michael Jackson Tribute Cruise

Photobucket

August 25, 2011

Of all the Michael events I've attended, this is definitely one I will never forget. I haven't been on a cruise since the 5th grade back in 1996, so I forgot how much fun it was gonna be. Plus it was a cruise that played all Michael Jackson the whole time. It was hosted by Shaila and DJ Qua from 98.7 Kiss FM. DJ Qua was spinning all the hits from Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5. It was another adventure for Shauna and I. We had a blast. Of course you guys knew I was dressed up like Michael. I wore his black and gold military jacket with the gold cartridge belt from his “Dangerous” tour. Once I put it on, I knew it was gonna be a quite interesting night.

The day started off quite rainy so the whole morning I was checking my email for cancellations. My mom kept calling me to find out what was going on. All morning long I was praying it would stop or slow down at least. Thank God it did stop and the boat did rock.

My friends from the Michael Jackson Fans of New York were there and we were so happy to see each other. I haven’t seen them since June 25th, so it was so fun to see them again. The music was bumping and we all got on the dance floor. They started off with slow songs by Michael while people were eating and getting settled but once it pulled off, the beat picked up. I was one of the few impersonators on the boat but we all showed each other love and respect. We rocked it out and I also won tickets to Q-Tip’s MJ Tribute Party by doing the robot to “Dancing Machine,” but I can’t go do to Hurricane Irene.

We danced the night away. I was definitely one of the highlights giving them all the MJ I could offer and more. People were enjoying themselves so much that I was feeding off of their energy. I was definitely feeling the music. But Shauna and I had a night to remember. Enough talking, here are some more photos.

Tribute to Aaliyah

Photobucket

It is still hard to believe it has been ten years since she's been gone. She was gone way too soon as it is. I still remember that day like it was yesterday. I was in Marlo's Restaurant and I hard on the radio that she had died in a plane crash. I stopped eating my food and then a tear rolled down my face. I couldn't believe what I had just heard. Even a little earlier that day while riding in a car I thought I heard it but I shook it off not believing it. Then When I did confirm it, I was devastated. Aaliyah was such an amazing and powerful artist. She was multitalented just beginning to launch her acting career. She is definitely not forgotten. She is still our "Babygirl" and "Princess of Hip-hop and R&B." We love you Aaliyah.

5.9 Earthquake Hits Virginia, Rocks East Coast

Photobucket

Tuesday here in New Jersey seemed like a normal day until about 1:51 PM. I was at work sitting at my computer and I began to feel a slight sway. I thought maybe it was something I ate or that I was feeling dizzy. I was looking around and I didn't notice my co-worker or the customer react, so I thought it was me. I asked her did she feel the shake and she said she didn't. Then I looked over and saw my keychains on my magnet strip shaking. So I knew it was something other than me feeling weird. Then it was reported on the radio that there was a 5.9 earthquake in Mineral, Virginia near Washington, D.C. We felt the tremor from that. I knew I felt something and that I wasn't losing my mind. My mom and my friend, Moses, even called to check on me. It was felt as far as North Carolina and as far up north as Massachusetts. It was definitely a scary feeling. I can imagine how they felt where it actually occurred. Thank goodness there has been no reported injuries or major damages.

Rest In Peace Nick Ashford

May 4, 1942 – August 22, 2011

It came as such devastating news that we have lost another music legend and icon, Nick Ashford, to throat cancer yesterday. He was a part of a husband and wife singing duo, Ashford and Simpson. They have penned numerous hits as well as their known hit "Solid." It was one of my personal favorites. But he will definitely be missed and he will live on forever. Our love for him is as solid as a rock.

Meet Me In The Garden Pt. 14 and 15

Hey guys! It's been a while since I posted and I've been busy. Plus we have been receiving so much rain preventing me from taking photos of the garden. Since the last time we met, my mom has picked two cabbages and used it in a meal with rice and baked chicken. Delicious! Then we picked more collards, tomatoes and my first eggplant. We fed the plants plant food last week as well. We believe we have squash growing in plot 3 and another eggplant is growing in plot 2. But for the most part the garden is looking more radiant than ever.

Here's some photos:
