NKOTBSB Tour 2011

Yesterday, June 9th, I got a chance to see two of the most popular boy bands of the 90s, the New Kids on the Block and the Backstreet Boys. I was a fan of both groups but more of a Backstreet Boys fan because the New Kids on the Block were out from the mid 80s to early 90s and I was quite young then. I practically grew up with the Backstreet Boys, buying every album and plastering my walls with their posters. My favorite Backstreet Boy is Nick Carter and my favorite song is "All I Have to Give." My favorite album is Millenium.

The concert was held at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, NJ also known as the Meadowlands. I went with my BSB BFF, Quannie, who is a Howie D. fanatic. We met up and it was her first time driving to a concert and we got there in no time. It was so many people wearing BSB and NKOTB t-shirts and I had my Never Gone tour shirt. When we got there I had my camera out and this camera goes everywhere with me. Not that time, the security told me my camera was too big. I was pissed. But Quannie had hers though.

So after buying our souvenir tour booklets, we took our seats. The show was opened by newcomer Ashlyne Huff and the remarkable sixth season American Idol winner, Jordin Sparks. Jordan Sparks sang songs like "No Air", "Battlefield", and "Tatoo". After her, it was only uphill from there.

The guys looked so awesome from both groups, providing the same energy they did more than ten years ago. I was in love with everything they were doing and dancing to every song. They provided us with their hits from over the years bring back nostalgic memories. It took me back to the late 80s and early 90s. The setup was that each group got to serenade and sing songs one at a time. So if you were a fan of both groups you had no time to sit down. The New Kids on the Block performed hits like "Hangin' Tough", "I'll Be Loving You (Forever)", and "Step By Step". The Backstreet Boys performed hits like "Incomplete", "The Call", and "Larger Than Life". They even came together to sing their hit single "Don't Turn Out the Lights". So sad that former BSB member Kevin Richardson wasn't a part of this historic concert. There was also a special guest appearance by Jersey's own Naughty By Nature and they performed "Hip Hop Hooray" and "O.P.P.". We had such an awesome time, despite the fact I was a bit sick. This was a once in a lifetime moment I was not going to miss.

These are photos from the Puerto Rican Day fun happening in Newark, NJ on my way to meet with Quannie before the concert. The Puerto Rican Day parade was also held that day and the people were celebrating.
