Skins: A Show That Exposes

Season one of "Skins" has ended Monday night. When I first heard of "Skins" advertised on MTV, I thought it was gonna be your typical "teenie bopper" show with cheesy themes and lame story lines. But I watched the first episode and did not expect to get hooked on it the way I did. It premiered on MTV in January and was only a ten episode season. But plenty of things happened in the first episode alone that it drew major attention to the news and parents across the country. This was no "Degrassi" and I love that show as well. I became hooked to this show because of the some of the story lines but they did have quite a bit of adult themes that made me feel kind of uncomfortable. I actually forgot at some points that these actors were playing teens, because the content was so mature. The curses they used were censored but people believed a lot more should have been. These teens were doing drugs and drinking like adults and it was a bit disturbing. Then a young girl named Cadie, who has various mental illnesses, gets prescription drugs for her friends to get high. There were scenes where they was also enacting sexual acts and that was a shock to me as well.

There were some relationships that rose eyebrows as well. Like the lesbian character Tea and her making out with Betty was enough to scare people who are afraid of exposing gay teens. Then for her to sleep with a guy, Tony, and give him the Chlamydia infection, which he passes to his girlfriend. There was also a teacher student relationship that grew into a disaster because this young teacher in her 20s was having sex with her student, Chris. I was even shocked that it would air on television. Then the love games between Abbud and Daisy deciding to have casual sex with one another with no strings attached. There are much more.

The things I did enjoy about the show was how each episode reflected on each character's life. It put you in each of their shoes. The show also expressed acceptance as far as race, disabilities, social status and sexual orientation. They even showed how these teens go through what most teens are going through that we all think is not possible. It shows how they think and interact with people, like friends and family as well. I would like to know if it will be a season two coming, because I do look forward to it.

Tiger Woods Apologizes? Ok....

I didn't know I was married to Tiger Woods along with the rest of the world. Why is he apologizing to us? It's not like we can divorce him and take his money. As long as he right with his family and God, who really cares? They are the ones who need to accept his apology for his behavior. He is not the first person and most certainly won't be the last. How long will America keep intervening in people's personal affairs? I've had enough already.

Tiger Woods Shirtless?! And Your Point Is...

Wow, who would have thought a golfer would have a body life that? I could tell because how his shirt fits him and how his arms stand out. The recent photo shoot for Vanity Fair magazine shot by well-known portrait photographer Annie Leibovitz (she's great!), features Tiger Woods shirtless on the cover stating the photos are the never-before seen side of Tiger; They include various shots of Woods shirtless and baring his muscles. The cover photo shows his expression as serious and makes him appear like he's a tough guy. Like he has some kind of an attitude. Of course these photos of Woods were criticized like other shots taken by Leibovitz, especially since the scandal. People are saying that he seems self indulged and into himself. The man is just posing for photos, why do people always have something negative to say? He's just another athlete posing shirtless. It's is weird seeing him like this but it was bond to happen someday. As for the marital issues, I hope that he can work it out and learn from this mistake. Then return back to golf.

Tiger Woods always had a serious look on his face game day anyway.

Tiger Upper Cut from Me

I'm not trying to take sides on the issue but I'm tired of hearing about the issue. Not just his case but all of these celebrities and their personal affairs being aired out like dirty laundry. These people are human beings and they had private lives. Their private lives need to just stay within their homes. I'm just so tired of when something negative happens to someone, their faces are all over the news and newspapers. No matter if it's CNN or ESPN, Tiger Woods dominated the channel today. From a woman's point of view, I do feel bad for his wife. As a husband and a father, he should not have done what he did because when you marry someone your committment is to your wife. Plus they have a child. But that is a personal issue for her and Tiger to work out. They are going through a tough time right now and people just keep digging into it. A question that really gets to me is if he didn't crash his truck in front of his own house would all of this have come out? Would all those women would have come forward? My main question is can America focus on something else please? All this hoop-laa is driving me crazy.
