Halloween 2011

Once again another fun Halloween as MJ. I had dressed in my Dangerous tour outfit, since most of my costumers didn't get to see me in it. They enjoyed coming in and seeing me as the King of Pop. I even got to hand out candy to the children that were out getting candy. I always love the look on peoples' faces when they see me. Many ask me to bust a move, which I do. Then they are also shocked to see that I'm a woman.

After work, I went to a Halloween party with my mom and sister at a martial arts school. My sister's friend is the Master of the school, Master G's School of Martial Arts and Physical Fitness in Newark, NJ. The people who attended were students of all ages, parents and friends. The DJ, also an instructor, played Halloween related tunes like the "Monster Mash," the "Halloween" theme song and the mother of the all "Thriller." He even played "Ghosts" and along with his songs he had a monitor showing video scenes. You know I was glued with Michael Jackson. I moonwalked for the children and showed a few how to do it too. Then he began to play line dances such as the "Cha Cha Slide," Electric Slide," "The Cupid Shuffle," and more. Then as the night winded down he played a number of Michael Jackson songs. I danced, took photos, and had a great time with great people.

Amateur Night at the Apollo: Moses Harper Pt. 4

BIG CONGRATS TO MY BIG SIS AND MJ TRIBUTE ARTIST MOSES HARPER! SUPER TOP DOG WINNER 2011!

Photobucket

I'm still amazed about the show last night. I'm so proud of how she has accomplished her goal and won the grand prize. She truly deserved this moment and she couldn't have shared it with any better people than her extended Michael Jackson family. I know she felt our energy growing stronger every minute of the show as we anticipated her performance. Then as she performed we all went wild. Of course, I had to be in the lower level towards the aisle so I can hype the crowd up.

Photobucket

We all arranged to wear Michael tribute clothing and roll deep. People were wondering why we were dressed that way. I wore my black sequin jacket, a sequin shirt that made MJ photos on it, my light up glove, my black hat and loafers. I even had on my MJ buttons. It was so cool to see that we all represented Michael.

Photobucket

The show overall was quite interesting. This show showcased the best of the best. Only one person was booed and he was playing my favorite MJ ballad "Human Nature" on the saxophone. He was the first act for the adult segment. His supporters were very upset so they tried to boo everyone else who came out. They almost did until they saw Moses. They wasn't expecting her to put on a show like that. The crowd was jamming and dancing along with her. She had them swept away.

When it came down to the judging segment, we began to yell out her name and cheer before they got to her. There was another talented duo that performed last time and placed second last time, Unknown Lyric. They played the violin and guitar playing hip-hop and r&b. They were mind blowing. This time they had loud cheers and made it the final two. When the judges called her out we yelled and screamed at the top of our lungs. But when the judges called their name the crowd erupted again, and I couldn't breathe that entire time. But so happy that it was a tie. I was so extremely happy for her. We are all happy for her.

Art, Peace and Music Festival 2011

Yesterday I had the chance to perform officially as "Mikette" for the first time in my hometown, Newark, NJ, for the 1st Annual Art, Peace and Music Festival. I wasn't intending on performing but given the opportunity, I jumped to it. I was definitely excited to show Newark my love and appreciation for Michael Jackson.

Photobucket

My boyfriend, Richie, and I set out on this adventure. We arrived at Washington Park and I was the only one in a costume. Of course, I was the alittle embarassed, but I got over it. People were waving at me and I made people smile just by being there. Then we decided to get something to eat while we waited for my friend, Lamar. He's the MJ dancer I met at NJPAC this past September. After we ate, we decided to make one last round around the festival to see if we saw him, but ran into the event coordinator. He asked me if I could dance like Michael and I was like "Of course!" Not realizing he was the event coordinator and he was about to put me on stage.

I was introduced to the audience as "Mikette." As I began to perform, it felt as if Michael's spirit jumped inside of my body and took over me. The music blasted "Billie Jean" and I became "Mikette." I gave them my all and they enjoyed me. Then Lamar came out and performed "Another Part of Me." Then he brought me back out with him to finalize the performance and we did an amazing job. I definitely enjoyed myself and the audience was mesmerized by our dance moves.

I was so happy I was able to help out the show by filling in a gap due to a performer not being available and gave a memerable performance. The festival in general was wonderful. They had fashion shows, spoken word poetry, singing and dancing. There were sculptures around as well from different artists in the Newark area. Marching bands that participated in the parade before the festival performed as well. It was such a beautiful event and I was glad I was not only there but a part of it as well.

Here are some photos from the day.

Michael Jackson Tribute on ANTM All-Stars

We all know that Tyra Banks is a very close friend to the Jackson family and Michael Jackson. She was also featured in the morphing segment at the end of the "Black or White." So I can only imagine her reaction to Michael's death back in 2009. So weird how I always wanted to see this type of photo shoot done on America's Next Top Model. I really want to give snaps and claps for such a beautiful turn out. LaToya Jackson came as guidance and as a guest judge to help the girls nail Michael's persona in various eras of his amazing career. The outfits were from Michael Jackson's Stylist Rushka Bergman's "The King of Pop" Costume Exhibition. Most of them did an amazing job, while others of course fell flat. As an MJ Tribute Artist, it is hard to fill his shoes and you can only come but so close. Plus they also had to make it fashionable. You can tell the girls who really did follow Michael, because they really represented him well. I really enjoyed this episode and so glad that nobody was eliminated because LaToya said they did their best to represent her brother, which is definitely not easy. I would love to share my favorites from the evening in my opinion.

Start The Movement For MJ!

Mostly all of his life, Michael has been in the spotlight. We all know, even Michael knew, the consequences for being there. There are moments that made you shine because they noticed the good things you have done and then there are the snakes constantly biting at your ankles trying to bring you down. They do this with the power of money. They lose all kinds of respect and morals when money is involved.

Photobucket

Michael has faced all kinds of disrespect in his lifetime. From the lies and accusations to them calling him "Jacko." Til this day they still continue to call him that but this trial has opened new doors to the media to feed on. Just to get their ratings and popularity up, TMZ and other media sources have been releasing images of Michael after his death while in the hospital. These particular photos were used in the trial as evidence but they were so drastic they caused some of family members, including his mother, to leave the room. The media should not even be able to get their hands on them. There are even people trying to torture his children with them. Respect has gone out the window. We all know that TMZ can ruin people's life, but come on! TMZ has been exploiting Michael's death since day 1. They were saying he was dead before it was even confirmed. Then they post the hospital photo of him dead and now his autopsy photo! I'm fed up! Enough is enough!

Photobucket

All of us MJ family most continue to stick togther. We are strength in numbers and unstoppable. We can make a change. We may not be able to stop them all but someone needs to be made an example. JOIN THE MJ FIGHT! FIGHT FOR HIS RESPECT AND PRIVACY!

Rest In Peace Steve Jobs

Photobucket

February 24, 1955 – October 5, 2011

The last "RIP" blog post I did was back in August for Nick Ashford, so I was nearly floored to hear that the co-founder, chairman, and chief executive officer of Apple Inc., Steve Jobs, had passed away today. I knew even if I was only able to type something short, I'd rather have something than nothing at all. He was truly a visionary and a genius who took the computer age to new levels. He created products that were ahead of their time. He will always be remembered for his computer expertise and not just the man with the black turtleneck shirts, which he alwaya wore. Overall, I am a Mac Head and he will be missed! My prayers go out to his family and friends, also to the Apple Inc. family.

Quote from the famous Apple commercial I live by:
Think Different:
“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in a square holes, the ones who see things differently, they’re not fond of rules, and they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify, or vilify them. But the only thing you can’t do is, ignore them, because they change things, they push the human race forward and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do."

Meet Me In The Garden Pt. 19, 20, and 21

Sorry everyone for the late update. It has been the most craziest fall weather happening here. It has been raining cats and dogs most of the time. Hard for me to go out and photograph my progress. The most recent photos I have of my garden are from today, which is rare because I usually photograph once every week. I have also been doing plenty of running around with work and hanging out. In these three weeks, Fall has officially begun, October has rolled in, I've been to New York a few times and even met Jermaine Jackson of the Jackson 5 and the brother of the late Michael Jackson. So I've been quite busy.

The garden is coming close to the conclusion of the gardening season. People have been clearing their boxes and prepping them for next year. We still have tomatoes, peppers, and collards growing. My mom pulled up most of the red cabbage and all of the green cabbage. She's prepared some as well for dinner along with fried green tomatoes. There is still one eggplant hanging in plot 2 from the last time. Some were starting to grow but the rain and cold air we've been having may have stopped them. Eventually we will cut that one off and try to prepare a meal using within it. After a while I will have to wrap up my series of "Meet Me In The Garden" until next year but I'll will make you aware when it will conclude.
