Peace, NYC, and Paul Mooney

Sunday May 15, 2011 was quite an interesting day. I had a ticket to go to the Newark Peace Education Summit: The Power of Nonviolence at NJPAC (New Jersey Performing Arts Center). This was a three day event (May 13-15th) with guests speakers having a panel discussion about solving issues around the communities and bringing them together. The main speaker who many people anticipated on seeing was Nobel Laureate H.H. the XIV Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso. Other guests included Newark Mayor Cory Booker Martin Luther King III, Goldie Hawn, and Edward Norton. I feel this was a great event to hold in Newark, to educate people about having peace and love for one another for a bright future.

I still can't believe I had won more tickets, this time to see legendary comedian Paul Mooney at Carolines Comedy Club in New York City. Before the show my sweetheart and I arrived early so we can find the place which was right on Broadway. So we did a bit of siteseeing and took photos around the city.

So we arrived at Carolines and we are seated. We are both excited about seeing the show because Paul Mooney is a legend. He wrote for so many people including the late great Richard Pryor. My babe is a huge Richard Pryor fan and he loves comedy, so seeing Paul Mooney was the closes he would get to meeting Richard Pryor and a comedic legend. The show was hosted by comedienne Robin Montague and boy was she hilarious. The second comedienne was Christy Miller. She was a bot rough around the edges but she had the crowd in stitches. Paul Mooney had the audience laughing until it hurt. He touched on subjects such as race, politics, and current events and added his spin to them. I could not stop laughing and he gave one hell of a show lasting nearly two hours. After the show he was selling his comdey cds and signing autographs. Being that my babe was a huge fan I took a photo of him with the legend. We had such a great time.
